the song follows a young drummer who attempts to reconnect with the spirit of his late father by following in the man’s footsteps and forging a path in music. The problem is, as he’s the new kid in town, his school’s existing drum line has no interest in welcoming him to the group, and after a period of tension, the performers go as far as to give their classmate a black-and-blue to drive the point across.
