single An Animal - "It was mind-blowing how sexist many of them were," drummer and vocalist Steven Ansell says – Brighton duo Blood Red Shoes came up with an idea of their own. They're active supporters of campaigns such as Love Music Hate Fascism, and have played the feminist festival LadyFest (which sounds like a deleted scene from Spinal Tap); so it seemed obvious to them to swap gender roles. To that end, Ansell is a jilted bride while guitarist and vocalist Laura-Mary Carter plays a mugger wielding a snow globe. The resulting promo – a naked businessman running through the streets as a variety of things happen to him – is utterly cryptic and confusing but also extremely entertaining.
