Down reveals the band rediscovering just why they started making music in the first place. Written by singer/guitarist Luke Pritchard and young hip-hop pioneer Inflo, the song loops its hooks amidst energetic percussion, but it retains a subtle and soulful swagger. Discussing the band’s new material, Pritchard said: “With this record we didn’t do any rehearsing beforehand… I’d write a song with Inflo or on my own, put it up and we’d all play over it. There was a real freedom to the process.”
